LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Martina Navratilova, a legendary tennis player who has won 18 major titles, revealed on Monday that she had been cancer-free since being told she had throat and breast cancer at the beginning of 2023.
The 66-year-old American tennis pro with Czech ancestry stated on January 2 that she had been given an early diagnosis for breast and throat cancer.
At the WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, in November 2022, the renowned player—who has 59 Grand Slam titles—noticed an enlarged lymph node in her neck. She has won 18 singles, 31 doubles, and 10 mixed doubles titles.
She declared her cancer-free status on Monday, June 19.The former tennis player received medical care in New York.

“Fuck cancer I’ve been given the all-clear after a day of tests at Sloan Kettering! What a relief! Thank you to all the medical professionals—doctors, nurses, radiation and proton wizards, etc,” Navratilova posted on Twitter.
Prior to 2010, Navratilova battled breast cancer.
Navratilova, who is recognized as one of the best tennis players of all time, has won all four Grand Slam competitions and held the world number one ranking for 332 consecutive weeks.
