LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has said that, like a tiger, he is ready to chase away all the criminals in Nigeria.
Egbetokun made this known during his decoration by the Vice President, Kassim Shettima at the Presidential Villa as the new acting-IGP after the retirement of the former IGP Alkali Baba.
The ceremony, which took place at about 1 pm, earlier today, had in attendance: National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and the immediate past IGP, Usman Alkali.

The new Police boss, who spoke to journalists shortly afterward, said he feels “like a tiger ready to devour Nigeria’s internal enemies” as he prepares to assume office at 11:00 a.m on Wednesday.
Egbetokun said: “now that I have just been decorated, I am looking forward to taking over tomorrow morning at 11 am.
“I really can’t describe how I feel presently, but if I have to tell you anything, I will tell you that right now I feel like a tiger inside of me, ready to chase away all the criminals in Nigeria.
“And at other times, I feel like a lion in me, ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria. That’s my feeling right now,” said the newly appointed IGP.
Egbetokun’s predecessor, former IG Baba Alkali, expressed his confidence in the new leader, emphasizing their shared history and their collaborative work over the years.
