Two persons have been confirmed dead and many were rescued after rubble collapsed on scavengers at two demolition sites in Kano State on Thursday.
Following the demolition of illegal structures by the Kano State Government, scavengers swooped to pick up materials they deem useful.
While one person died at the demolished Daula Hotel site, another person was confirmed dead at the Eid Ground demolition site.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Husaini Gumel, who was at the Daula Hotel scene of the incidents, said they have arrested 106 suspects scavenging around demolished structures in the state and will continue to provide security in the demolished sites.
Also reacting, the Managing Director of Kano State Urban Planning Development Agency, Ibrahim Yakubu, said the state government has directed the police commissioner to take over the sites and arrest trespassers.
