LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A 32-year-old physically challenged man, Abubakar Mohammed and four others have been arrested for abducting a three-year-old boy for 800,000 in the Oshimili-South Local Government Area of the Delta State.

This is following a raid on the hideouts of a six-man syndicate at Abraka Market in the said area of the State.

Punch reports that, one of the suspects abducted the victim on 13 June, and in a bid to locate the whereabouts of her son, the victim’s mother, Aisha Yusuf, reported at a police station in Abraka community where her son had been abducted by one Mohammed Isah.

Acting on the complaint, it was further learnt that Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, ‘C’ Division Asaba, CSP Apu Torukeregha, embarked on a frantic search to rescue the abducted child.

The team reportedly stormed Abraka Market in the Oshimili-South LGA and arrested Isah.

Upon interrogation, the State Police Public Relations, DSP Bright Edafe, while confirming the incident, said Isah confessed to the crime and led the operatives to arrest three other members of the child stealing syndicate.

He identified the suspects as Ibrahim Sani, 23; Kabiru Ibrahim, 52; and Abubakar Mohammed, a 32-year-old cripple.

Edafe noted that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had been dealing in the business of stealing children and selling them for a huge amount of money.

He added that the suspects led Policemen to a hotel in Onitsha, Anambra State, where the team arrested one Suleiman Mohammed, in whose custody the abducted child was found.

Edafe said Mohammed, during interrogation, confessed to having agreed to sell the child for N800,000, adding that he was waiting for the buyer when the Policemen arrested him.

He noted that the rescued victim had been reunited with his mother, adding that the suspects had been detained for further investigation.
