President Bola Tinubu is in a meeting with former military head of state, General Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd.), at the presidential villa, in Abuja in Thursday, 15 June.
In a video shared by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the president was on hand to receive Abubakar as he alighted from his vehicle.
Both leaders exchanged banter alongside their aides after which they moved to the president’s office for a meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is not immediately known.
Prior to the arrival of Abulsalam, the President had inaugurated the national economic council (NEC) which is chaired by Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
Abdulsalam is the second former leader of the country Tinubu would be having a sit-down with since he became President.
On Tuesday, he met with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential villa.
During the meeting, Jonathan briefed the president on developments within the West African sub-region.
The former president is the special envoy leading the mediation mission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Mali.
