LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – WordPress has unveiled a proprietary writing helper powered by AI to assist users in composing and editing blog content.
Currently accessible on WordPress.com, the new tool, dubbed Jetpack AI Assistant, integrates smoothly with the editor interface.
The helper was created by Automattic, the business that runs WordPress.com and makes contributions to the advancement of the open-source WordPress software.
According to Automattic, the tool is a “creative writing partner” that enables users to “generate diverse content at your command, significantly reducing the time and effort required in content creation.”
The launch of this generative AI function by WordPress appears to be in line with the general corporate trend toward the use of AI-powered assistants for business automation and content production.
Notably, a number of businesses have immediately adopted OpenAI’s AI models, including GrammarlyGo by Grammarly Inc. and Office365 by Microsoft Corp., which includes Word.

Demonstrations demonstrate how the tool can be used to create a whole blog post from a single prompt, describe a blog post in a headline, change the text’s tone (users can select from options like “formal,” “provocative,” and “humorous“), and more. “Please write down a list of the top tourist attractions in Tokyo, and give me a table with exchange rates in JPY, USD, and EUR.”
According to Automattic, the application can also translate between 12 languages, including English, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Hindi, and fix spelling and grammar.
It’s difficult to ignore the negative repercussions that such a product will probably have, even while the feature is a logical launch for Automattic, which attracts people to WordPress.com by introducing extra features for things like security and support.
Many copywriters are concerned about the web being lost in a tsunami of low-grade AI-generated spam as clients migrate to generative AI tools like ChatGPT, which are already costing them clients.
The default copy that generative AI technologies frequently output is uninspired or outdated, and these tools are notoriously wrong.
