Lagos Police Arrest One-Chance Gang, Recover Operational Vehicle

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a three man one-chance gang who had been terrorizing commuters along the Oshodi-Gbagada axis of Lagos state.

The suspects identified as, Wale Ajayi, 24; Abideen Saka , 26, and Oliseh Sunday aka Bobwhiskey, 29, were arrested by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad at their hideout weeks after they abandoned their operational vehicle while fleeing a scene of their operation after police operatives swooped on them.

In a statement earlier today, on Twitter, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the operational vehicle of the gang was hijacked at gunpoint sometime in February but later abandoned by the gang somewhere around the Gbagada axis of Lagos State.

According to him, the suspects have been arraigned and remanded while awaiting trial.

The statement reads: “Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad have arrested three suspects, all members of a one-chance gang, operating along Oshodi–Gbagada Expressway, Lagos.

“The suspects had abandoned their operational vehicle, a Suzuki mini bus popularly called ‘korope’ at Gbagada area of Oshodi-Oke along Gbagada–Oshodi Expressway, on 14 April, 2023 when RRS operatives accosted them while trying to drop off a victim.

“Investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier hijacked the operational vehicle at gunpoint at Ketu bus stop, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Ojo sometime in February and the incident was reported at Ijanikin Police Divisional Headquarters.

“The suspects, were later arrested at their hideout following weeks of intensive investigation have since been arraigned and remanded.”
