LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the University of Ibadan, Professor Opeyemi Ajewole has been reportedly killed by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
According to reports, Ajewole was killed on his way home on Monday night.
Voiceofnaija.ng correspondent gathered that the lecturer from the institution who confirmed the incident said the deceased was killed by a suspected hired killer at his residence in Ibadan.
“It is true. He was killed last night while returning home. They shot him and took his car. He was my friend. I just confirmed from a member of his Faculty now,” the source said.

Ajewole, until his death, was a lecturer in the Department of Forest Resources Management of the university.
Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications, at the university, Joke Akinpelu, when contacted, also confirmed the incident to journalists.
Akinpelu, who did not give further information, said: “Yes, it is true. But we are not sure if it is armed robbers or hired assassins.
“He was killed yesterday. The incident happened yesterday”.
