ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Siminalayi Fubara has been sworn in as Governor of Rivers State, alongside Professor Ngozi Ordu as Deputy Governor, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Monday.
In his first speech as Governor of the State, Fubara assured residents of the State of his plans to continue in the leadership style of the former Governor, Nyesom Wike and build on his achievements.
He promised civil servants early payment of their monthly salaries, pensions, and gratuities.

“We will follow his footsteps to balance consolidation and continuity. We will consolidate the developmental strides of the previous administration. To the Rivers State House of Assembly, we will work together to advance the common interest and goal for all,” he stated.
He succeeded Wike after winning the governorship election on 25 March on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Meanwhile, Professor Ordu is the second female to become Deputy Governor in the State.
