Siminialayi Fubara has been sworn in as the Governor of Rivers State and Professor Ngozi Ordu as the Deputy Governor on Monday.
Fubara was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi.
When invited to the rostrum the immediate past Governor, Nyesom Wike addresses his successor thus: “Your Excellency, the new governor of Rivers State I hand over the flag of the state and the handover notes to the governor of Rivers State.”
In April, Wike had unveiled a 220-man committee to supervise the inauguration of the incoming administration of Siminialayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, on 29 May.

The committee was the largest among States.
They were inaugurated by Wike at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Governor explained that because it is a Rivers State affair, members were drawn from across political divides, civil societies, the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), and representatives of other groups.
He said: “This is not a party affair. It is a Rivers State affairs. So, the committee is made up of all shades of opinion. In fact, our State has the largest number of such committees bearing in mind how our State is.
“Inauguration committee is just to prepare the swearing in of the governor and deputy governor-elect. It is not because you are a member of the inauguration committee therefore, it is automatic that you must serve in the cabinet.
“I have found out something and I have always told people, when you have the opportunity to serve, it is not an opportunity that money must come out at every given time,” Wike cautioned the committee members.
According to the Governor, activities lined up for the event include identifying projects to either flag off or commission, public lectures, an inauguration ceremony and dinner on the 29 May.
