LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Yaba Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of security man, Seun Michael, and one other, Olatilo Egbayelo, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in the Abule Oja and Ibikunle, Yaba area of Lagos State.
The defendants who are facing one count of rape were remanded by Magistrate Patrick Nwaka.
The second defendant, the victim’s neighbor, was said to be used to sending the teenager on errands and had slept with her four times in a school toilet.
According to the Prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, the first defendant was caught because the last time he defiled the girl, he allegedly kept her in his security post where he works till the next day.
Nurudeen alleged that the defendants carried out the offence on 25 and 27 April, 2023 respectively.

The charge read, “That you, Seun Michael, and Olatilo Egbayelo, on April 25 and 27 respectively at No. 3, Ibikunle Street, Yaba and Abule Oja, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile a 14-year-old girl (name withheld) by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an office punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State Nigeria, 2015.”
The Prosecutor, Nurudeen, stating that the act was deliberate and repeatedly committed to satisfy the defendants’ desires, requested that they be remanded pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
Granting the request, Nwaka remanded the defendants to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre pending legal advice from the DPP.
Nwaka also adjourned the case till 26 June, 2023.
In a similar incident that occurred in a secondary school, Greater Scholars International School in Ajah area of Lagos State, the culprit is yet to be tried in Court, as the victim’s Grandmother has cried out for justice.
