IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin has announced the arrest of Afrobeats musician, Seun Kuti over ‘serious assault’ on Police Officer.
Voiceofnaija.ng had earlier reported that the last child of late Afrobeats legend, Fela Kuti, had turned himself in on Monday morning.
The singer, his lawyer and a family representative reportedly arrived at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters.

A viral video of the singer assaulting a Police Officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State had emerged on Saturday.
The IG has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the alleged assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
Following the order, Kuti turned himself in on Monday. Shortly after that Lagos PPRO, took to Twitter to reveal that the singer has been placed under arrest for assaulting a Police Officer.

He wrote: “SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER: SEUN KUTI TURNS SELF IN
“Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative.
“He has been placed under arrest in line with the law. The Command appreciates the public for their concern and assures that the ongoing investigation will be detailed, transparent, professionally pursued; and justice will be manifestly served for all parties involved.”
