Twitter critic, Danie Regha has reacted to the performance and outfit of award-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
The singer made history on Sunday evening when she performed at the coronation concert of King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle in England.
It was the first time a Nigerian artiste would perform at the royal coronation and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Over 20,000 people attended the Coronation concert, organised by the BBC, while, globally, over 18 million people viewed it.
A high point of her performance was the two āBataā (Talking drums) drummers who came to play beside her leaving the well-packed concert attendees screaming with Joy.
Tiwa, who thrilled the audience with her beautiful voice, rendered āKeys to the Kingdom,ā a song she recorded with Mr Eazi and featured on BeyoncĆ©ās album āThe Lion Kingāā released in July 2019.
The inspirational song is a blend of the traditional Yoruba language and English that aims to motivate one to keep pushing through and defeat doubts.
Tiwa, who looked stunning in a regal green dress designed by Lanre Da Silva, was introduced as the Queen of Afrobeats.
She performed on the large stage, accompanied by an orchestra that included violinists, drummers, and backup singers who sang in Yoruba and English.
Videos and images from the singer’s performance surfaced online on Sunday night and has garnered reactions from Nigerians including Daniel Regha who berated Tiwa Savage over her outfit.
He also said performing at the event is an achievement far better than winning a Grammy.
He wrote: “Tiwa Savage’s performance at King Charles’ coronation was great, she brought the African vibes but most importantly, dressed decently; She should normalize covering up. Great song of choice too. Performing at that event is an achievement far better than winning a Grammy. Kudos.”
His comment do not sit well with some tweeps who do not see anything wrong with her dress.
@jeremiaholuwol tweeted: “Oh My Goodness š, Nothing Wrong With This Dress.”
“@DanielRegha Well, I didn’t know Grammy Awards were that easy to win. Maybe I should try performing at a coronation instead. Congrats to Tiwa!” @shingha reacted.
Tony 7 also said: “I give @TiwaSavage 10/10 on that one, I had to go Youtube to finish the performance” while @myluv33 on his part wrote: “For the First time in forever you saw something good..”
@el__mido tweeted: “This guy tweet something positive for the first time and itās on a Monday morning. Itās a good week already.”
