LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Some communities in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have again been plunged into darkness following a power failure in the last five days.
Affected communities include Ibafo, Magboro, Oke Afa, Makogi, parts of Aseese, and the environs.
The development is coming just weeks after Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) pledged to restore power in the communities where residents were left without power supply for over a month.
Samuel Adedeji, a resident of Makogi area, on 12 April told journalists that the latest power outage started on Friday, 7 April.
āPower supply is usually rationed but on Friday, which was our turn in our area to have electricity, there was an outage. It is sad that up to this moment, power has not been restored,ā he said.
Meanwhile, IBEDC has again, said it is working to restore power in the affected communities.
In a notice issued on 12 April, IBEDC blamed the power outage on a āfaulty breaker at Oke Aro TCN which affected the Ibafo 33KV feeder.ā
The notice signed by IBEDC, Ogun Region, reads in part, āOur technical team is working to ensure that the fault is speedily rectified and power supply restored.
āWe sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appeal for your understanding”.
