LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Truecaller has reportedly launched a new service for iPhone users called live caller ID which is made available to customers in India.
This feature is said to display the caller’s identify to the user on the screen as the name suggests as there are about 38 million users of the Stockholm-based company.
Undoubtedly, the iPhone operates in a unique way and users of iOS devices must activate Siri in order for it to recognize the caller ID when they receive a call from an unauthorized number. Siri will show the user’s live caller ID if they say, “Hey Siri, Search Truecaller.”
To enjoy this development, TrueCaller provides Premium and Gold Premium as its two subscription tier options in India. The cost of a Gold plan is Rs. 5,000 per year, while the premium subscription for a single member costs Rs. 529 a year or Rs. 179 for three months.
Nakul Kabra, Truecaller’s product director for iOS reportedn that the app has had limited experience with iOS devices due to how Apple works with external third-party caller ID apps.
The current Truecaller call-identification framework is limited to a small pool of numbers that are selected by Truecaller’s spam algorithm and retained in directories within Apple’s CallKit framework. He claims that other numbers that aren’t locally saved will need to be manually located.
Apple’s Siri Shortcuts and App Intents are used by the system to deliver the desired live caller ID experience. To get started, iPhone users must first enable the Search Truecaller shortcut by choosing the Add to Siri option from the Premium menu.
The first time the shortcut is activated, the user will be asked if they agree for Truecaller to search the screenshots it has taken.
