Six Die, Others Injured In Osun Ghastly Accident

A fatal crash that occurred at Iwaraja junction (Igbelajewa) area, Ipetu- Ijesha route of Osun State, has claimed six persons lives.

The Superintendent Route Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who is also the Federal Sector Public Education Officer of the the Corps, Mrs. Agnes Ogungbemi, made this known in a message sent to newsmen on Tuesday evening.

According to her, seven passengers were seriously injured in the accident while only one is not injured at all out of the 14 people involved in the incident.

She attributed the cause of the accident to over-speeding and dangerous driving on the part of the two vehicle drivers.

Ogungbemi stated that the injured victims had been taken to Wesley hospital Ilesa while corpses of deceased passengers were deposited at the same hospital morgue.

She also disclosed that the officials of the Corps recovered items in the accident: N21,900 that belongs to the driver who drove GBA440XA OPEL Safira, adding that they have been handed over to the Police division in Ijebu Ijesa.

“Others item recovered was the sum of Twenty Seven Million One Hundred and Seventy One Thousand Four Hundred Naira (#27,171,400) and it has been handed over to the victims’ family members,” she added.

She said that the accident involved one Toyota Sienna and an OPEL Zafira, charging motorists to always exercise caution while driving on the highways.
