ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Ebeano political family has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) as announced in a statement by its chairman, Chief Emmanuel Okwor.
The Ebeano group was founded by the former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani.
The group was birthed in Enugu in 1999 and has produced Governors of the State since then, and other elected office holders.
This is coming after Senator Nnamani, lost his bid to seek re-election to the upper legislative chamber, to Kelvin Chukwu of the Labour Party.
Announcing the result on Sunday, Joachim Omeje, INEC returning officer, said Kelvin Chukwu, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), secured 69,136 votes to win the election.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Okwor said the alliance with APC was to consolidate the partnership with President-elect, Bola Tinubu to achieve good governance in the country.
Okwor noted that members of the family across the country had been consulted and were in agreement with the alliance in the interest of the people.
The Ebeano chieftain stated that the interest and welfare of the group would be better served under the APC structure in the country.
