LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A mid-day inferno has razed down buildings and properties in communities in the Kiyawa Local Government area of Jigawa State.
A community dweller who pleaded anonymity revealed that the affected communities include Malamawa, Karangiya and Kwalele.
He said: “There was pandemonium in our community as the outbreak destroyed properties and rendered hundreds of families homeless. The fire destroyed our home, food, properties and our animals.”
Spokesman of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense corpse Jigawa State Command, CSC. Adamu Shehu, in his statement to journalists, confirmed the incident.
He asserted that the fire event happened on Sunday at or around 1:00 pm in the Kiyawa local government’s Malamawa Dangoli hamlet.
“The fire started at about 1:00pm and lasted for more than 2hrs before it was brought under control through the combine efforts of security personnel and the residents.”
No one was hurt, according to Adamu, but several persons were taken to the Kiyawa LGA hospital for proper treatment after being exposed to the smoke. The cause of the outbreak is yet to be discovered .
