ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Ekene Agha, 42, has been remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre by the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl.
It was gathered that the suspect and the victim’s mother are co-workers.
Agha was arraigned on two counts of indecent assault and defilement, by the Lagos Police.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, who refused to take Agha’s plea, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the correctional centre until 15 March, 2023, for the Director of Public Prosecutions’ advice.
The prosecutor, Inspector Thomas Nurudeen, told the court that the offence was committed on 6 January, 2023, around 3.30 pm at No 40 Ago Palace Road, Okota, Lagos State.
Nurudeen said also that the offences were punishable under Sections 261 and 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The charge read in part: “That you, Ekene Agha, on January 6, 2023, around 3.30 pm at No 40 Ago Palace Road, Okota, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did indecently treat one (name withheld), a child of three years by inserting your finger into her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
