LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Dr. Anthony Eze, a lecturer of the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Anambra State, has been killed by gunmen at his place of residence.
According to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, the unknown gunmen were said to have stormed Dr. Eze’s residence in Awka, the State capital, in a Toyota Corolla vehicle as the victim was driving out, and shot him at close range.
The resident added that the victim who attempted to flee on sighting the gunmen, was surrounded by the attackers who rushed and shot him repeatedly on his chest.
“When he tried to drive back, they followed him and shot him, emptying about four bullets into his chest. As soon as they executed their mission , they fled to an unknown destination while we ran for our lives,” he said.
“We later rushed him to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, but the doctor on duty confirmed that he was dead.”
The spokesperson of the institution, Chika Ene, confirmed the incident to the press, adding that she was yet to get details of the incident.
