ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The kidnappers from Saturday’s abduction at the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, have contacted some family members of the victims, demanding N20 million per victim.

Voiceofnaija.ng earlier reported the the train station attack, in which an undetermined number of people were kidnapped by the armed men.

An indigene of the community told Vanguard late Monday night that a security personnel informed him about the latest development.

But when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor informed that he would work on the information to confirm whether it is true.

However, the Executive Director, Esan Youth for Good Governance and Social Justice, Benson Odia, confirmed the report of demand, saying that the demand was absurd.

Odia called on the authorities to intensify efforts in rescuing the abducted persons that are still being held captive by their abductees.

He said: “I can tell you that the kidnappers have demanded N20 million, totalling N620 million. This is absurd and I don’t know where poor people will be able to raise that amount of money.”
