ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Not less than five gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have been arrested by the operatives of the Edo State Police Command.

The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwanbuzor, who disclosed this noted that the suspects were arrested as a result of an intelligence report.

It was gathered that the suspected kidnappers invaded Ogoja Camp, which is known as Ford Camp, in Kamafua- ii community with the intention of kidnapping one of the heads of the camp.

He said the suspects, on reaching the camp, started shooting sporadically, but were arrested with the collaboration of vigilante groups from the Kamafua- ii community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Edo State.

SP Nwanbuzor said one double-barrel gun, one single-barrel gun, and two pump-action guns with cartridges were recovered from them.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed A. Dankwara, while commending the operatives, the community and the vigilantes group in arresting the kidnappers, assured of quick response to distress calls.

However, he charged the people to give helpful information to the police in the campaign against criminals and their activities in the state, Daily Trust reports

The suspects, Christopher Aiyegbeni, 29; Matthew Osayande, 32; Uyi Destiny, 27; Bankole Faz, 35; and Ayemen Okojie, 32, were arrested on December 16, by the operatives of the Ekiadolor police station.
