ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Magistrate’s Court sitting at Nteje, Anambra State, has remanded a 28-year-old man, Raphael Ozoemena, in prison for allegedly stabbing his friend, Ejike Eduno, to death.
According to the police prosecution, on Saturday, 1 October, 2022, on the Mount Olive Housing Estate, Nkwelle-Ezunaka, the suspect Ozoemena, stabbed Eduno in his chest with a knife, which led to his death.
The police prosecutor, CSP A.A. Nwano, of the State Criminal Investigations Department, said the offence was punishable under Section 274 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 36, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria, 1991.
The prosecutor asked the court to remand the accused, while the defence counsel, Pere Oseme, prayed the court to grant his client bail, Punch reports.
The court, presided over by C.C. Chigbo, in its judgment on Wednesday, ordered that the accused be remanded in the Onitsha Custodial Centre, and adjourned the matter till 18 January, 2023.
