Criticisms Trail Tinubu’s Gaffe At Kaduna Summit

IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Netizens have criticized the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over his recent comment in Kaduna State.

Speaking at the 7th edition of Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KADInvest 7.0), Tinubu hailed Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s “creativity and resiliency in turning a rotten situation into a bad one”.

The gaffe has again raised questions about Tinubu’s mental capacity to hold the nation’s highest office.

Although the presidential candidate later corrected the gaffe, social media users, especially those supporting his opponents, latched on to that.

“I am openly begging Governor El Rufai not to run away for additional Degrees like PhD or others. There are educated derelicts. We are not going to let you run away. Your vision, creativity and resilience in turning a ‘rotten situation to a bad one’ are necessary at this critical time and that is why we are here,” he said.

The statement has continued to generate controversy on Twitter.

A tweep, @iamadonisa said: “It must really be boring sitting there to listen to this man. It takes so many seconds to put words together. Did I hear ‘turning a rotten situation to a bad one’?”

Chidi Okereke said: “Tinubu wants people like El Rufai to stay so they can turn a rotten situation to a bad one. Atiku told the ACF that northerners need a Northern president, not Yoruba or Igbo. In one day.

“In a sane country, Obi would have already won this election but Naija moves different.”

@Rich_D_Guy also tweeted: “Turning a rotten situation into a bad one? 🤦🏾 God may this thing never happen to Nigeria again.”

A perplexed @benfoly_david tweeted: “Turning rotting situation to a bad one…. Am I the only one that heard that?”

According to @pdauda: “At this point, his handlers need to provide or engage transcription services so the audience can read what he’s trying to say and move on with the rest of their lives in good time. This is a good example of turning a rotten situation into a bad one🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️💀”

@kennis554 also wrote: “Baba is commending El rufai for turning a rotten situation to a bad one. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. We cannot have this man as our President, pls vote wisely.”

In the same vein, Ndi Kato tweeted: “Tinubu’s supporters have made peace with the reality of their candidate. They don’t even try to defend him any longer. Anything Tinubu does, they quietly take it like that.😪”

@jamaticulus also opined thus: “Did I just hear “Your resiliency in turning a rotten situation into a bad one”? Mehn. Tinubu is goneeee!” just as @Fwachabe2 wrote: “El-Rufai is turning a rotten situation to a bad one 😂😂 😂see people clapping😭😭.”
