LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A man has reportedly been hospitalized after he jumped off Otedola bridge in an attempt to flee armed thieves.

A Twitter user, @olabodeEO who shared the story said the man was running from armed thieves who wanted to snatch his phone.

He jumped off because he didn’t want to part with his phone when he got intercepted by the police.

He broke his leg and was rushed to the hospital where he has been asked to pay a N1.2 million for his medical attention.

The tweep wrote: ”This guy jumped off Otedola bridge because he didn’t want to part with his phone when robbers crossed him last night. He broke a leg, and was rushed to emergency before being transferred to Igbobi. The first bill just came in – 1.2 million. Plus, he’s in severe pain. Sigh.”

Reacting to Olabode’s tweet, Dr. Queen said: “People don’t know how much orthopedic and neurosurgery cost. I know someone that even after the expensive surgeries has a limp.”

Another tweep, @realkatiendas said: “Pretty sure he’d have given up the phone if he knew his decision would cost him 1.2 million. Omo💔”

@Azizbatch wrote: “He took a gamble on landing safely but ddnt work out.”
