IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigerians on Twitter have queried former Minister Of Aviation And Tourism, Femi Fani-Kayode’s stan after sharing a video of Peter Obi’s supporters chanting his name during PDP’s rally in Akwa Ibom State.
Peter Obi is the presidential candidate of Labour Party while Atiku Abubakar is a former vice-president and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer.
Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) who joined All Progressives Congress (APC) from PDP, took to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday morning, to react after a crowd which attended the PDP Rally in Uyo started singing “The Obi song”.
Speaking at the rally, Atiku appealed to Nigerians to give PDP a chance to rescue the country’s economy, security, and other sectors that have been destroyed by the All Progressives Congress administration since 2015.
He said: “When PDP came to power in 1999, we met Nigeria in a state of poverty, insecurity, hunger, lack of education. We lifted Nigeria from the bottom to the top. We became the biggest economy in Africa, we had peace, we had progress. But when Nigerians said they wanted change, they voted for change in 2015.
“What we have seen is poverty, insecurity, lack of jobs and disunity. Our children are no longer going to school. Is that what we want to continue in 2023?
“So, today, we have inaugurated the flag off of our campaign to rescue Nigeria. To rescue Nigeria from hunger, to rescue Nigeria from poverty, and also bring back the unity that we require in this country.”
FFK then took to Twitter to react to the rally held on Tuesday, 11 October, and wrote: “Imagine how @atiku felt when the crowd started to sing the Obi song at their maiden rally in Uyo?
“Worse still 5 of their Governors and many party leaders boycotted the rally.
“The PDP is clearly cursed. Atiku Ibn Dubai should simply give up now and go back to Abu Dhabi.”
At the campaign ground, supposed supporters of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar were captured on camera signing for Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate.
The crowd started by singing solidarity song in support of Atiku, but later switched to chanting “Obi kererenke Obi,” which is a solidarity song by the “Obidient” movement in support of Peter Obi.
Obi kererenke is an old cheering song in Igbo land. Just like NzogbuNzogbu Enyimba Enyi! These two songs are for warfare and also sung for victory.
There was uneasy calm among the PDP dignitaries who were present at the venue.
A man was heard saying: “Akwa Ibom people una de vex.”
According to FFK: “Can you imagine how Atiku Abubakar, Iyorcha Ayu, Emmanuel Udom and their PDP felt when the crowd started to sing “the Obi” song during their maiden rally in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom, which is PDP- controlled state?
“In the history of Nigerian politics such a brazen and defiant act of rejection and administration of disgrace has never been dishes out to a presidential candidate of a major political party.
“This is a bad Omen for them and portends disaster in the future and a crushing defeat in next presidential election. If they can’t command any support in their own rallies why are they wasting their time?”
Nigerians on Twitter have being reacting to FFK’s tweet on Wednesday.
A tweep, @CC_Okoro wrote: “It’s easy to call people cursed. You called APC cursed when you were in PDP, today you are gladly eating your own vomit. You are the real definition of CURSE.”
Nnachi also commented on the post, writing: “Mr. Food🥘Why not focus more on your ‘old man’ Bola Tinubu who kept sleeping everywhere he goes?
“The best advice you can give to Tinubu is to step down now. As for Atiku, Yes he’s fully aware that it’s justifiably right for him to step down for Peter Obi. Atiku will step down!”
Ayobamidele_Praise who found Nnachi’s tweet hilarious, wrote: “Lol.. I checked your DP and I saw that you are part of those that called Nigeria a zoo…. Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣… Hope after your Peter obi lule… You will not go back to no Biafra no peace.”
@chika_udoka tweeted: “You belittle yourself the more by believing that tittle-tattle! I was in Uyo and never heard that but that aside, that song is an age long gyration song we use to sing and it has no link to @PeterObi”
Nnaemeka Edeh also tweeted: “They will equally do it before Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We no dey fear face. ObiDatti is the moving train,we want to take our country back. No doubt, its a daunting task, but surely we shall overcome. Atiku Abubakar/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu don’t have a chance,we urge INEC to do the needful.”
