LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Bukayo Saka was the hero of the day after scoring two goals to ensure Arsenal beat Liverpool at the Emirates to return to the top of the English Premier League table.
Arteta’s Arsenal knew what they were up against even though Jurgen Klopp’s side have not been convincing in the last seven EPL games they’ve played this term.
Martinelli’s goal in the opening minute of the match ensured that Arsenal started the match on the right footing, but they could not hold on to possession so much, allowing Klopp’s men run them around the pitch.
Liverpool’s efforts paid off eventually, when Diaz squared a ball to Nunez who shot it pass the onrushing Ramsdale to restore hope for them.
But Bukayo Saka made sure that the first half ended in favour of the Gunners after scoring a well worked out goal by the Gunners with Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli fully involved.
After the break, however, Liverpool showed some sparks and were quick to get back on level terms after Roberto Firmino’s beautiful shot ran past Ramsdale and into the net in what was a moment of distraction for the Gunners.
Saka, England’s Men’s Player of the year, ensured that Arsenal got full points after converting a penalty in the 76th minute.
Despite the late pressure mounted by Klopp’s boys, it was too late for them to get anything from the game.
