Ezekiel Kelly, a 19-year-old from Memphis who is being accused of shooting a friend and six other people in and around the city last week returned to court for a brief motion hearing on Tuesday.
Ezekiel Kelley wore a dark-colored jail issue jumpsuit and a face mask in court on Tuesday, where he appeared briefly before Judge Karen Massey.
Massey has signed an order limiting extrajudicial statements, meaning statements made outside the courtroom, and ordered the murder suspect back in court on Friday morning.
A gag order was put in place in Kellyās trial on Tuesday by Judge Karen Massey, restricting public discussion of the case.
During his first court appearance Friday, the 19-year-old was ordered held without bail.
He was arraigned on a single charge of first-degree murder but police say Kelly could face many more charges.
Kelly, 19, allegedly shot Dewayne Tunstall in the head in another friendās driveway early Wednesday before embarking on a string of shootings hours later which left another three dead and three wounded.
Police believe all the attacks were random except for the first, in which kelly is accused of killing his friend, Dewayne Tunstall.
A medical assistant, Allison Parker, was also shot and killed when Kelly reportedly carjacked her.
New surveillance video showed the moments before and after Rodolfo Berger was shot at a car parts store.
He survived, but only after undergoing several surgeries. His family said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Then thereās 44-year-old LaKesha McGlathen, who actually lived to tell her story exclusively to NewsNation.
She said she was shot and injured on the side of the highway while changing a tire with her dad.
āThatās when I saw the gun pointed at me and he popped off three shots,ā McGlathen said on NewsNationās āRush Hourā Friday.
Kelly had been out of jail for less than 5 months at the time of the shooting spree.
He had just served 11 months for aggravated assault.
Two years ago, Kelly had been charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty in 2021 to a lesser charge of aggravated assault.
He was sentenced to three years in prison for that offense but was released early in March.
