ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), sensitize export markers on the essence of E-commerce.
This is owing to the dwindling economy and high rate of insecurity in the country.
The E-commerce is a veritable platform for exporters, which goes a long way to expand the market and make sure there is a lot of penitration and quality of the product.
According to them, the E-commerce which is targeted at utilizing digital marketing as a tool to facilitate export market access, also gives people the opportunity to access free online portal, through the help of NITDA and NEPC, by providing the platform for the exporters to have a main domen name for their products and also market their products outside the country.
Speaking at the training held in Enugu State on Wednesday, the convener of the training from the Policy and Strategic Department, the Nigeria Promotion Council, Audi Salamatu said that the programme is aimed at sensitizing exporters on how to go about their businesses online and take advantage of the E-commerce platform.
Also, she promised that the participants would be given a personal domen free of charge for a period of one year, where they can be selling their products.
On the digital marketing, she said, “Before now, our exporters cannot do much in marketing and in attaineding to their customers because the distance and the cost involved is much.
She urged participants to utilize the opportunity as an avenue to do their businesses online.
Speaking also at the event, Arnold Jackson, Regional Cordinator South-EAST, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), said the training is to help exporters market their products in all exports on E-commerce platform and also create a platform on SMEs to leverage their products at international markets.
He recalled that during the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of things were not known on till now, that the E-commerce has brought about innovation.
“Covid-19 has actually disrupted to an extent, what was a norm before. So you don’t need to carry your product to anywhere before you can sell.
“Again, ICT is available to leverage on our business. Businesses, jobs are more visual. It is all about marketing now, you can market your products and services online and get paid.
“We want to leverage the attention of the South-East on E-commerce platform and to ensure that people are able to buy and sell their products on internet.
He also urged participants on their full cooperation on whatever effort they are trying to put in place to assist them in development and promotion of exports both in the area of South East and Nigeria as a whole.
“All they need to do is their cooperation and willingness. We don’t want their products to be rejected at the international market and we want them to take their time to do the right thing“, added.
Also, Mr. Tony Olenloa, representative from NEPC, noted that non-oil exports have become the only means of survival for Nigeria.
Olenloa said NEPC as part of its service portfolio, helps exporters registered and help them stand competitors.
Representative from the NITDA, Mr. Oguntade Adeseye said digital marketing help companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationship to capture value from customers in return.
