IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency have reacted to the reports of Dr. Femi Olaleye raping his wife’s 15-year-old niece.
Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw had called out the medical doctor last month for allegedly raped his wife’s niece.
According to the actress, he disvirgined her, and threatened her not to speak to anyone about it.
Kate said she has worked with Dr. Femi Olaleye, founder of Optimal Healthcare Company, for years after he approached her and asked her to partner with his medical foundation to advocate against cancer.
She disclosed that she recently attended one of the advocacy events where women were to get free screening and she asked Dr. Femi about his wife, who was absent.
She explained that Dr. Femi told her that they are separated and he tried to demonise his wife.
The actress said Dr. Femi told her that his wife got the police to arrest him, adding that the doctor told her that his wife knows his weakness and set him up by bringing a woman into the house.
He confessed to having sexual relations with the woman but failed to disclose that the victim is a 15-year-old minor.
Kate Henshaw stated further that she later spoke to Dr. Femi’s wife, Remi Olaleye, who gave her the details; that the girl was a virgin and was raped by the doctor before he threatened her to keep it quiet.
The actress said she then sent a message to Dr. Femi to scold him for his actions but he responded and denied confessing to her that he had sexual relations with the minor.
Updating Nigerians on the incident, the Lagos State Domestic Violence Agency said it received a complaint of sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child allegedly perpetrated by Dr. Femi Olaleye.
The agency added that the child has already received medical support and is in the process of getting psychosocial support.
The agency reiterated the state Government’s zero tolerance for all forms of Sexual and Gender Based Violence and assured that “no case of sexual abuse allegation will be swept under the carpet“.
A statement released on Thursday via Twitter read: “1. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency received a complaint bordering on an allegation of Sexual Assault by Penetration, Indecent Treatment of a Child and Defilement, allegedly perpetrated by one Dr. F. Olaleye on the 19th of March 2022. This was made via our toll free line.
- As is customary, the case was immediately referred to the designated Police Station in this instance being Gender Desk department of the Lagos police command.
The child had already received medical support and
was in the process of receiving psychosocial support.
- DSVA has requested the police to forward the duplicate case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions so that legal advise can be issued.
Furthermore, we have also shared with the police, additional information which we believe would assist with the investigation.
