LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- American Singer Justin Timberlake was arraigned and released without bail after being charged with one count of driving while intoxicated with alcohol in New York City.
He was also cited for running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. Timberlake’s next court date is set for July 26, and he is being represented by criminal defense lawyer Ed Burke, Jr.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that officers observed Timberlake with glassy eyes and smelled alcohol on his breath.

He failed a field sobriety test, which included a one-legged stand and a walk and turn. Timberlake also refused to take a breathalyzer test.
The incident began when Timberlake left the American Hotel after partying and was seen running a stop sign almost immediately after getting into his car. Cops followed him as he began swerving, and they pulled him over.
Several of Timberlake’s friends arrived at the scene and tried to convince the cops to cut him a break, but the officers refused. Timberlake was handcuffed, arrested, and the entire event was recorded on body cam.
A representative from the Sag Harbor Police Department confirmed Timberlake’s arrest for driving while intoxicated. Timberlake is currently in custody, though he is expected to post bail soon.
Timberlake was out with friends at a hotel in Sag Harbor on Monday night. He got into his car around 12:30 AM to drive back to his place when he was pulled over by the police shortly after.
Justin Timberlake is currently on tour, with his next shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Chicago. His camp has not yet commented on the incident.
