LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- 19-year-old Venezuelan Sergio Tarache Parra who reportedly burnt his ex-girlfriend alive on a town square in Peru has been tracked down and arrested in Colombia.
The government in Lima made the disclosure on Wednesday, 12 April, 2023.
Tarache Parra had allegedly doused 18-year-old Katherine Gomez with gasoline and set her ablaze on a central square in Lima on 18 March, for breaking up with him
Gomez was admitted in the hospital with burns to 60 percent of her body and died after six days of agony in a case that shocked Peruvians.
Interior ministry, Peru, revealed that Tarache would be transferred from Colombia to Peru to be tried.
Security cameras reportedly captured Gomez’s attacker fleeing the scene of the crime, and Peruvian police offered a reward equivalent to $12,500 for information leading to his capture.
An Interpol red notice had been issued for Tarache’s arrest, according to Peru consulate in Bogota.
In a crime similar in 2018, a man boarded a bus the same area, poured gasoline on his ex-girlfriend Eva Agreda, and set her ablaze, she died days later.
