LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) announced on Friday in Abuja that a total of 107.34 million Nigerians have been enrolled in the national identification number (NIN) database as of May 2024.
The National Identity Management Director General, Abisoye Coker-Odusote disclosed the updated figures during a press briefing, revealing a notable increase from the 85.6 million recorded in December 2023.
Coker-Odusote highlighted that the latest figure represents a 3.2 million or 3.2% rise from the 104 million recorded in December 2023.

She attributed this achievement to the strategic plan implemented by the current NIMC management, which is aligned with its 5-Point Agenda to swiftly capture all Nigerians.
She stated, “As of this morning, the total enrolment on our database is 107.34 million, which is more than half of the projected Nigerian population. We hope to reach the 200 million mark upon completion of the system upgrade and equipping of all NIMC centers soon.”
The NIN, a unique identifier assigned to each citizen, has become increasingly vital in recent years, serving as a key component of various government initiatives aimed at bolstering security, governance, and service delivery.
