LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) –Russia has issued threats against British military facilities and ordered its military to conduct battlefield nuclear weapons drills.
These actions were described by the Kremlin as a response to comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Foreign Secretary David Cameron regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that troops from the southern military district would engage in drills focusing on the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. This decision was attributed to what Russia perceived as provocative statements and threats from certain Western officials.

The move came shortly after Macron suggested the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, and Cameron indicated that Ukraine had the right to use British weapons against targets inside Russia.
As a result, the UK and French ambassadors in Moscow were summoned by the Kremlin. The Russian Foreign Ministry lodged a formal protest against Cameron’s remarks, stating that they effectively made the UK a party to the conflict.
In response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory using British weapons, Russia warned that British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and abroad could be targeted.
The nuclear drills are set to take place amid heightened tensions between Russia and European countries. Germany recently recalled its ambassador to Russia after accusing Moscow of a cyber attack.
The situation in Ukraine remains tense, with Russia pressing an offensive in eastern Ukraine and claiming to have captured several villages in the region.
