ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a nationwide alert, urging all security agencies, including the State Security Service, to apprehend former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Bello is accused of embezzling N80 billion from Kogi state funds during his eight-year tenure from 2015 to 2023.
Despite the presence of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), operatives at his Abuja residence on Wednesday, Bello evaded arrest.
In a memo signed by Assistant Comptroller General DS Umar and sent to the police inspector-general, the NIS instructed security personnel to detain Bello for prosecution.
The memo emphasized that Bello is facing charges of conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering before the Federal High Court Abuja.

“I am directed to inform you that the above named person has been placed on watch list.
“The subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja for conspiracy, breach of trust and money laundering.
“If seen at any entry or exit point, he should be arrested and referred to the Director of Investigation or contact 08036226329/07039617304 for further action,” Umar wrote on the memo Thursday which was also sent to the director-general of the National Intelligence Agency.
Failure to surrender led to the declaration of Bello as wanted by the EFCC, after he failed to appear in court on Thursday.
Despite owing workers months of unpaid salaries, Bello reportedly spent N100 million on the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential form, despite having little chance of winning.
