LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The FCT Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu, has inaugurated the agency’s Female Strike Force to protect schools in the territory.
The inauguration follows the completion of a three-day training for the personnel, as stated by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Samuel Idoko, in Abuja.
Mr. Odumosu emphasised that the primary responsibility of the strike force is to ensure the safety of all schools in Abuja.
He highlighted that the training equipped them with the necessary skills and capabilities to carry out their duties effectively.
The training initiative stems from a recent meeting between all FSF Unit Commanders and the Commandant General, Ahmed Audi. Mr. Audi emphasised the urgency for heightened kidnapping vigilance in light of reported cases across the country.

“The training is imperative to ensure compliance with the CG’s directive on securing schools for the safety of students and staff,” stated Mr. Odumosu, emphasising the need to curb school abductions.
He urged schools in the FCT to register with the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre for better coordination and efficient emergency responses, noting that registration is free. Mr. Odumosu assured regular training and retraining of personnel to ensure prompt response to any security threat and to restore schools as safe havens for children.
The commandant charged the female strike force with conducting routine patrols and surveillance of schools to prevent threats and attacks.
Additionally, he encouraged them to organise periodic security awareness and enlightenment talks for students and teachers.
Mr. Odumosu also directed the operatives to adhere to the corps’ Standard Operational Procedure and to avoid excessive use of force or firearms in discharging their duties.
