ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Olowu of Kuta in Ayedire Local Government of Osun, Oba Hameed Oyelude, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reopen the nation’s border with the Benin Republic to ease hardship.
Oba Oyelude, who made the appeal in a chat with journalists on Sunday in his palace in Kuta, said the reopening of the border would ease the burden of Nigerians economically.

“At the time the Benin Republic border was closed, the Federal Government was protecting the economy of the country. But I want to urge the President to look at the possibility of reopening the border to ease the pain of Nigerians,” he said.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has also reopened the international border at Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State to promote international trading between Nigeria and Niger and Benin Republics.

This was disclosed in a statement yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, by the spokesperson of the Kebbi Area Command of the service, Mohammed Tajuddeen-Salisu.
He said: “The newly appointed Customs Area Comptroller (CAC), Kebbi Command, Mr. Iheanacho Ernest-Ojike, on Friday, reopened border for international trade, as directed by the Comptroller-General of the Customs, Mr. Bashir Adewale-Adeniyi.”
