ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A man identified as, Nathaniel Danjuma, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for theft, by the Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
He was arraigned alongside Japhet Habila on three counts of criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Esther Bishen, told the court that one Caleb Bakam of Ungwan Rimi reported the matter at the station on March 5., 2024.
Bishen said that the complainant woke up on the morning of March 1 and found the bonnet of his car opened and some items stolen from the vehicle.
She listed the stolen items to include one battery, wrist watch, head warmer and a 32 GB memory card, all valued N60,500.

Bishen said the second defendant was caught wearing the stolen head warmer which he said was given to him by the first defendant.
She noted also that when the first defendant was arrested, he admitted to stealing the aforementioned items. And when the charges were read to them, they both pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
In his ruling, Judge George Gwani sentenced the first defendant to six months imprisonment or a fine of N15,000 for criminal trespass and two years or N30,000 fine for theft.
Gwani said the sentence would run concurrently.
Also, he sentenced the second defendant to six months imprisonment or a fine of N15,000 for receiving stolen property.
