LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Dayo Mobereola as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for a renewable term of four years.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, following the recent departure of former DG, Mr. Bashir Jamoh, whose tenure had ended.
President Tinubu expects Dr. Mobereola to leverage his extensive experience in his new role to advance NIMASA’s mandate, which includes ensuring world-class standards of maritime safety administration, marine pollution prevention, and cabotage enforcement, among other responsibilities outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda for the sector.

Dr. Mobereola holds a Ph.D. and an M.Sc in Transport Economics from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport in both England and Nigeria.
Prior to his appointment, he served as the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) from 2003 to 2015 and later as the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State from 2015 to 2016.
In the private sector, he held roles including Deputy Managing Director at AFM Consulting Plc, London, and Senior Economist at British Petroleum Shipping Limited, London.
