ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension of the Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, alongside three Executive Directors, EDs of the Agency from office.
This is in light of fresh discoveries revealed during a thorough probe into the financial operations of the agency,
The Executive Directors suspended from office are Corporate Services; Olaniyi Netufo, Technical Services; Barka Sajou, and Rural Electrification Fund, Saâadatu Balgore.
This information was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement on Thursday.

He said: âFurthermore, President Tinubu has ordered a wider investigation into the conduct of the aforementioned officials in a fraudulent mis-expenditure amounting to over N1.2 billion over the past two years, some of which has already been recovered by anti-graft agencies.â
The president, following the suspension of the team, appointed in acting capacity Abba Aliyu as the Managing Director/CEO, while Ayoade Gboyega is to serve as the Executive Director, Corporate Services.
The new Executive Director, Technical Services is Umar Abdullahi Umar; Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund is Doris Uboh; and Head of Project Management Unit is Olufemi Akinyelure.
Ngelale added in the statement: âPresident Bola Tinubu expects all appointees in his administration to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties and reiterates his determination to elevate the yearnings of Nigerians for good governance and qualitative service delivery above the narrow interests of individuals who are entrusted to provide critical services to the Nigerian people.â
