(VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a panel session at the 2024 Nigerian International Energy Summit (NIES 2024) in Abuja, Nigeria, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) called for deeper collaboration among upstream operators especially independent producers.
This is to find solutions to challenges hindering the effective development of divested assets in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
In a statement signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, Olufemi Soneye, Executive Vice President, Upstream, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, emphasized the need for collaboration to address issues such as insecurity, lack of finance, and technological capacity.
Eyesan highlighted the importance of collaboration among industry players to surmount these challenges.

During the session, key industry players including the CEOs of Aradel Holdings, SNEPCo, First E & P Development Company, TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil Nigeria, Oando Energy Resources, and Chevron Nigeria, discussed the theme “Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience: Empowering Independent Producers in the Dynamic Energy Era”.
Eyesan lamented past experiences with divested assets, stating that most assets experienced a drop in production rather than growth after acquisition.
She stressed the importance of setting concrete plans to resolve issues through collaboration, rather than stakeholders addressing challenges individually.
