According to the socio-political critic: “The State police will be used by the Governors to persecute the opposition, to harass ‘non-indigenes,’ to rig elections and to counter the federal police in case of conflict of interest between the Federal Government and the state. Most of the state ruling party thugs will be recruited into the state police.”
He further spoke against the backdrop of reports that President Bola Tinubu and state Governors are planning on the possibility of introducing state police to solve the country’s security challenges.
This was part of the discussions Tinubu had with Governors during a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, last week.
