ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Men suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly conducted a raid in a midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.
According to eyewitness accounts, students’ lodges were invaded around 2 am, with some claiming that the men forcefully entered rooms and apprehended several students.
Videos circulating on social media showed damaged window frames, indicating attempts at forced entry into the premises.

Expressing dismay, a social media user identified as J Brandy wrote: “I thought they said EFCC should not raid at nights again. This hostel (Celebrity Lodge, FUTA) is right behind mine. When will this end? EFCC (officials) moving like thieves at night!”
One of the videos shows an individual in an EFCC jacket.
Notably, the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, had issued a directive in November to cease sting operations at night. This came in response to the outcry sparked by the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by EFCC operatives.
Efforts to reach the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, for comment on the matter were unsuccessful as he requested to be called back in 20 minutes and subsequently did not respond to further calls as of the time of this publication.
