ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a tweet on his X handle, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed excitement for Lagos, revealing that the Red Line Rail project, spanning from Agbado to Otto, is ready for commissioning.
With just weeks remaining until its inauguration, the project promises to bring substantial relief to commuters in the bustling metropolis.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that this achievement stands as a testament to the government’s dedication to improving transportation for millions of Lagos residents.
The announcement follows a productive meeting in Beijing with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), solidifying plans for the second phase of the Blue Line Rail project.
The collaboration with CCECC and the support of partners mark a crucial step toward realizing this transformative project.
Sanwo-Olu assured over twenty-two million Lagosians that the promise of alleviating traffic and transportation challenges is swiftly becoming a reality.

Discussions during the Beijing meeting also touched on the 4th Mainland Bridge, with assurances that the project will commence shortly.
As anticipation builds for the official commissioning of the Red Line Rail, Sanwo-Olu revealed that President Bola Tinubu has agreed to grace the occasion, symbolizing the launch of this groundbreaking transportation initiative.
The commitment to the betterment of Lagos remains unwavering, as the government pledges to fulfill promises and address the evolving needs of its residents.
He wrote, “During a productive meeting with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation in Beijing, we reiterated our dedication to completing the Blue Line Rail project’s second phase. This trip was important to meet with the leadership and finalise our plans for an integrated system that will work for Lagosians as we commit them to a long term partnership.
“We are grateful for the collaboration with CCECC and the support of our partners in realizing this transformative project. Our promise to over twenty-two million Lagosians is fast becoming a reality. The traffic and transportation challenges will soon be history as we move forward. We also had discussions pertaining to the 4th Mainland Bridge and it is certain that this project will begin shortly.
