OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- An alleged attempt to abduct some students leaving Ilorin, the state capital, was thwarted by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Yusuf Ajala, a 37-year-old suspect, was taken into custody in relation to the incident at Isale Asa, in the Opomalu neighborhood of Ilorin city, at around 1:00 pm.

State Commandant of the NSCDC Umar Mohammed told reporters during a press conference in Ilorin that “a discreet investigation proved wrong the suspect’s claim that he saw the victims on their way back from school and asked them to help him get dry fish.”
“The investigation revealed that the suspect forcibly changed the direction of the children from their normal route home in an attempt to kidnap them.”
Umar reiterated the command’s resolve to take decisive action against lawbreakers and their activities in order to protect the lives and property of the people.
