ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- To alleviate their housing challenges, the Defence and Police Officers Wives’ Association (DEPOWA) distributed land documents and N500,000 cheques to 10 widows of fallen heroes in honor of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The plots, generously donated by Promiseland Estate’s CEO, Mr Lawrence Oloche, aim to provide a lifeline for the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
DEPOWA’s President, Mrs Oghogho Musa, emphasized the significance of bringing smiles to the faces of the hero’s families and urged fellow Nigerians to support military widows.
The donation, pledged on 12 December, 2023, by Promiseland Estate, manifests its commitment to gratitude and compassion for those safeguarding Nigeria.
Mr Wilson Ndukwe, Head of Corporate Communication at Promiseland Estate, highlighted the gesture’s motivation rooted in compassion and gratitude towards those who dedicate their lives to national security.

The announcement coincides with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, encouraging reflection on the profound impact of their services.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Military Widows Association (MIWA), Mrs Veronica Aluko acknowledged the symbolic importance of the plots of land as a lifeline for widows facing loss and grief.
“These plots of land signify more than just a piece of real estate; they symbolize a lifeline for the widows who have faced the harsh realities of loss and grief.
“Your commitment to supporting the families of our fallen heroes is a testament to the enduring spirit of solidarity that defines our nation,” she said.
Two beneficiaries each were drawn from the DEPOWA; Nigerian Army Officers Wives’ Association (NAOWA); Navy Officers Wives’ Association (NOWA); Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives’ Association (NAFOWA) and Police Officers Wives’ Association (POWA).
The gesture reflects a spirit of solidarity that defines the nation, acknowledging the enduring sacrifices made by the military widows.
