ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has called for a thorough review of military strategies, tactics, techniques, and procedures to effectively counter the escalating insecurity in the country.
Acknowledging the challenging times faced by Nigeria, the minister emphasized that the safety and security of the nation depend on the military’s ability to address the prevailing threats.
Represented by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Badaru made these remarks during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted senior officers at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
The call for strategy review comes in the wake of increased scrutiny following recent attacks in Plateau State.
Badaru stated, “I must also remind you all that these are challenging times for our nation and the military. Therefore, the government and the good people of Nigeria will expect nothing short of professionalism and the best efforts with commensurate outputs on the part of the military.”

He urged the military to reassess strategies, techniques, tactics, and procedures to effectively address the security challenges and provide assurance to citizens regarding their safety.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized the importance of the military’s focus on the ongoing fight against banditry, terrorism, and other criminal activities.
He reminded them of their mandate to execute operations necessary for preserving national security and territorial integrity.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, Badaru urged them to redouble their efforts and swiftly bring an end to all security threats in the country.
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, stressed the significance of meeting the expectations of Nigerians, emphasizing that failure should never be an option as long as the determination to succeed remains strong.
He underscored the commitment of the military in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
He said, “You must remember that we cannot afford to fall short of the expectations of all Nigerians. I therefore urge you to remember that failure should never be an option so long as your determination to succeed remains strong.”
