ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigeria Police has brought charges against 23-year-old Saidi Musa before a Kwara State Magistrates Court in Ilorin for allegedly murdering his father, Chief Musa, the Elemosho of Shareland in Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State.
Saidi is set to stand trial for culpable homicide, accused of using a machete to fatally attack his father, who held the position of a traditional chief in Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Council.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Saidi claimed that his father was unjustly causing him distress while sitting in the living room.
Reportedly angered by his father’s words, Saidi allegedly attacked him with a cutlass on the head, inflicting fatal blows. Subsequently, he fled to a mountainous area in Share.
The Police prosecutor, Sergeant Abdullah Sanni, argued that the gravity of the offense, being culpable homicide, makes the matter not ordinarily bailable.
