LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Hanks Anuku, a Veteran Nollywood actor, has disclosed that his consumption of alcohol is attributed to his struggle with depression rather than the use of illicit substances.
In a video shared via Instagram, the film star said although he consumes alcohol, he will never take hard drugs.
Anuku also shared details about his financial struggles while appreciating his followers for their support.
“Yes, depression makes me drink but I never take hard drugs, I do not take hard drugs at all, I only had once and that is it,” he said in the video.

“Out of depression, I did not have a job for years, I was thinking about my children, their school fees and their welfare and other things and you know what it is like when it gets to that point.
“I call it a breaking point, I was broken to pieces and I had to go drinking and that is it.”
Anuku was in the news in November 2022 after a disturbing video of himself dressed in tattered clothes while roaming the streets surfaced online.
The actor, however, debunked claims that he was battling mental illness.
Anuku recently begged Nigerians for financial assistance, saying he has been jobless for many years.
