LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Threads, launched in July, faced an engagement push when Meta started suggesting Threads posts on Facebook and Instagram feeds.

The move aimed to promote Threads usage but received criticism from users. Responding to the backlash, Meta now offers a new setting to prevent Threads posts from being suggested on other platforms.

Jorge Caballero (@datadrivenmd) shared on Threads that Meta introduced a feature allowing users to stop their Threads posts from appearing as suggestions on Facebook and Instagram.

The new feature, found under the Privacy tab as ‘Suggesting posts on other apps,’ permits users to opt-out of sharing Threads content on these platforms.

Users have the flexibility to deselect Facebook or Instagram individually or both at once.

The feature rollout has begun on the Android app and will reach users progressively. Ensure your app is updated to access this feature if it’s not visible yet.

Additionally, Threads introduced a noteworthy Edit button, allowing users to modify their posts within a five-minute window.

This feature, free for all users, does not display an edit history. Alongside this, the Voice Threads option is now available, enabling users to share recorded voice messages as posts, akin to the voice note feature on WhatsApp.”
